Introduction to Innovation and Business

The course gives the student an introduction to business and innovation in start-up and pre-business situations. The course relies on opportunity recognition, a theory based on entrepreneurship, giving an understanding of the process of identifying, exploring, and developing an entrepreneurial opportunity that best leverages the student’s experience, interests, passions and networks. Another well-known entrepreneurial approach, effectuation, is introduced to further familiarise the student with opportunity identification, decision-making in uncertain situations and new venture creation. To conclude, the course gives the student understanding on how modern businesses start and operate, giving practical tools needed to be able to start your own business in the modern knowledge society.
